My name is Stacie Rusk.  I am the owner and sole employee of The Icing on the Cake.  I am located in West Chester, OH right next to I-75, about 6 miles north of I-275.

My passion for decorating began when I first started decorating my kids' birthday cakes.  I looked forward to it, and began looking for excuses to make a decorated cake.  Any occasion would do.  Using my co-workers as guinea pigs, I tested recipes and techniques for birthdays, holidays, and the like.  I am a self taught baker, but have been fortunate enough to take decorating classes with Pam Archibald, Nicholas Lodge, Colette Peters, and B. Keith Ryder, Jason Ellis, Joshua John Russell and James Rosselle. 

I am a member in good standing of ICES, the International Cake Exploration Societe.

A custom bakery bakes and decorates cakes to order.  That means we do not have cakes already decorated, sitting in the case waiting for someone to buy them.  We do not have stock designs.  Each and every cake is created new and fresh for each client, so that their cake is a one of a kind centerpiece to their celebration.

What is a cottage foods bakery, you ask....

 A cottage foods bakery is a legal term in Ohio for a bakery operating out of the owner's home.  They are allowed to produce baked goods for sale that do not require refrigeration.  So, unfortunately, I am unable to sell pumpkin pies, cream pies and/or fillings, cheesecakes and the like.  Luckily, this leaves plenty of cakes, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, and pies that I can do!

A cottage foods bakery is not inspected by the state

I cannot do items that contain copyrighted or licensed images.  This is for legal reasons....I don't want to go to jail!  If I am able to purchase the appropriate rights at some time in the future, rest assured I will post that information immediately.  I can create a generic cake around a toy or edible image purchased by the customer, if that is desired.  If you would like to include a copyrighted image on your cake, please book your order with enough advance notice so that we may petition the the copyright owner for permission to use their image.  Such permission is not guaranteed and is rarely granted.
